Winter Words, our reading program for kids 0-3 kicks off January 3! Come in to the Main Children’s Desk, North Branch or South Branch to register your child and get your Reading Log. Read together with your little one every day for 14 days and get a free book. Free board and -paperback books given away until February 14; don’t miss out on your child’s free book.
You may already know that reading aloud and talking about books together is one of the best ways to prepare your child to get ready for kindergarten, but did you know SINGING with your child is equally effective? The Young and the Restless, our popular 0-2 year old drop-in sing-a-long every Thursday morning starts up again on Thursday, January 7 at 9:30am in the Community Meeting Room. Learn songs that you can sing together all day long. You can also register for Infant Rhymetime (under 12 months), Book Babies (1 year olds) and Time for Two’s starting January 23rd. All these storytimes feature books, songs, rhymes, and movement games geared to your child’s age. What a fun way to acquire language skills!
(Both branches have a 0-2 drop in storytime, too: Book Babies is at North Branch on Monday at 10:15 am and at Chicago Avenue/Main Street Branch, CAMS, on Wednesday mornings at 10:30am)
