Tours and Visits
Bring a small group, class or a whole grade for a tour of the Main Library or either of our two branches. Tours can include an orientation to the library, the Teen Loft, library website, library catalog, as well as booktalks or online resource demonstrations. We can customize the visit to meet your students’ needs. Can’t make it to the Library? We can come to you!
Booktalks/Book Trailers
Booktalks can get students excited about new and different titles. We tailor in-school booktalk presentations to your groups needs. For something more hands-on, Teen Services staff can show your students how to layout, film and edit their own book trailers inspired by books they’ve read for class.
STEM Explorations (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
Introduce your students to 3-D Design and printing, coding, simple circuits or other hands-on STEM activities that relate to your curriculum. Host a Maker Faire or collaborate on an inquiry based learning project. Teen services staff will share the Library’s STEM resources, equipment and expertise to help you and your students explore STEM and use it to solve real world problems. We can lead classes, help run stations or offer one-on-one assistance.
Online Research Tools and Database Demonstrations:
Library staff can connect your students to reliable research resources for their projects and help them wisely navigate the immense world of information. Demonstrations can be customized to your curriculum. Examples include accessing free ebooks, eaudiobooks, comics and more through your device or finding the best resources for a paper from our article databases.
Professional Development
Teen services staff are available for one-on-one training for teachers with online resources and databases, Library tours, and booktalks. We are happy to collaborate with you.
