Innovation Station Grand Opening Planned for September 23

The community is invited to attend Evanston Public Library’s Innovation Station Grand Opening Celebration on Monday, September 23, from 4 – 7:30 p.m.

Located on the third floor at the Library’s Main Branch (1703 Orrington), The Innovation Station is a creative DIY space that provides tools for makers to work on projects in the community. The Innovation Station is free to use; however, makers are encouraged to bring their own supplies contingent on pre-approval from staff to ensure that the materials are safe to use in the equipment. EPL will supply all the materials free of charge for the workshops scheduled in the Innovation Station.

“You bring the ideas and supplies, and we supply the space and technology. Imagine, design, and create with us!” said Elacsha Madison, Innovation and Digital Learning Manager.

The Library will host Open Studios in the Innovation Station (for ages 12 and up) on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 4 – 7:30 p.m., and Sundays from 1 – 4:30 p.m. Patrons can drop in and learn about the equipment and work independently on their own projects with staff on hand if assistance is needed. Users can learn to 3D print, laser cut, sew, crochet, embroider, make buttons, Cricut tech and more.

Upcoming classes in the Innovation Station include:

  • Modeling for 3D Printer
    Saturday, Sept 21st, 11-1pm
  • Laser Cut Paper Picado
Sunday, Sept 29th, 1-3 pm, Main Library
