Evanston Public Library is pleased to present a whole new way of reading magazines and periodicals. It’s convenient, it’s fun, it’s Flipster!
Some of the popular, in demand titles that EPL now subscribes to include The New Yorker, Essence, The Nation, Chicago Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, Rolling Stone, Sports Illustrated, Hispanic Network, Out, and more! Want to try it? These titles are all available to you with an Evanston Public Library card via the library’s website or by downloading the Flipster app onto your mobile device.
Providing full color, full image access to the latest magazines, Flipster offer EPL patrons access to 35+ digital titles. In doing so, the site takes care to mimic the experience of reading a real, physical magazine. That means including hyperlinks in the table of contents that allow you to jump to articles of interest with ease.
Scan through and take note of the titles in Spanish and English that are of interest to the Latinx community. Flipster has LGBTQia+ magazines. It has titles of interest to the Black community. And depending on the title, patrons can read both the most recent issues and back issues as well. The app version has a “text only” function to allow you to read long text articles or recipes without the illustrations. And if you use the desktop version, you can even print out an article or issue.
