Celebrate Pride Month with Evanston Public Library

EVANSTON, ILL. – The Evanston Public Library is commemorating Pride Month throughout June with programming for all ages that celebrates and explores issues relating to the LGBTQIA+ community. 

Programming highlights include: 

  • Pride Month Scavenger Hunt. Search for your rainbow-clad friends in the Children’s Room. Then write your name and phone number on the back of your sheet and turn it in to the front desk to be entered in a raffle to win a prize! All month long. Main Library. 
  • Rainbow Guessing Jar. Guess how many rainbows we have in the jar! The closest three guesses win a prize. Plus, check out Pride: The Story of Harvey Milk and the Rainbow Flag to learn more about the gay pride flag’s history and its role in today’s world. All month long. Main Library. 
  • Short & Sweet: It’s Pride! Stop by the children’s department of the Main Library and take home a short story and a sweet, simple craft. This month’s kit features the song “It’s Pride!” by Miss Katie. All month long, while supplies last. Main Library. 
  • Drag Queen BINGO for Adults and Teens. Join us for a fun-filled game of BINGO with the fabulous Coco Sho’Nell! Prizes for adults and teens, plus information from local LGBTQIA+ organization PFLAG Evanston. Saturday, June 22, 4:00pm – 5:30pm, Main Library. Ages 16+. Register
  • Law at the Library: LGBTQIA+ and the Law – Take Pride in Your Future. Learn how to navigate the challenges LGBTQIA+ individuals often experience when planning for later life, including how to build an effective care plan and what documents, resources and information are need to ensure a secure future from a certified elder law attorney. Presented in partnership with the Chicago Bar Association and Chicago Public Library. Tuesday, June 25, 6:00pm – 7:00pm. Virtual. Register
  • Teen Pride Party! Get ready for a night of friends, fabulousness, and freedom to be who you are, with a waacking and voguing live dance lesson, followed by a fashion show and dance party. We’ll have stations for face painting, nail polish making, paint-your-own flags, a photo booth, and more. Wednesday, June 26, 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Robert Crown Branch. Grades 6-12. Drop in, but registration is preferred so we can order food. Register
