Two book choices meant to distract you from natural disasters, political campaigns, and other ills of the day’s news: Roz Chast, a cartoonist from New Yorker Magazine, has assembled a book called What I Hate:From A to Z. Of course, her artwork graces the pages. ‘Chast, a self-proclaimed “anxious person,” brings her own special brand of wry humor and artistic style to a clever, alphabetized catalogue of her favorite personal anxieties and concerns.” Quote from Shelf Awareness. Fortunately, EPL owns this title.
Another book review I encountered on this terrific website is “Make the Bread, Buy the Butter: What You Should and Shouldn’t Cook from Scratch–over 120 Recipes for the Best Homemade Foods,'” an adventure in self-sufficiency and food catastrophes. CCS owns this, hopefully we’ll acquire it soon.
Reese is bold enough to try to make her own hot dogs, grow vegetables and preserve them, cure salmon, and fry her own doughnuts. With each experience, she notes which was worth attempting and which to totally avoid! What a departure from our crowded supermarkets shelves and freezer cases, where I often wonder what’s left to actually cook?

PS- Just came across another review with a video clip.
