Club Monaco joins fashion, books, and coffee in NY

October 22, 2013

MONACO_c_Tina_Fineberg.NYT101613Talk about a few of my favorite things! Club Monaco will be opening a 20,000 sq ft. space devoted to fashion, culture, and coffee. The director of marketing and communications, Alison Greenberg, states that this venture is an attempt to “bring our blog to life,” referring to the Culture Club. The goal is to “create a space where you don’t just come to buy a sweater, but are getting an education on art and culture.” The Strand is a NY landmark bookstore that has survived while most have sadly faded from view. They expect to offer 2500 titles at this point. What a great concept!

Order a side of books at McDonald's

October 17, 2013

antMcDonald’s plans to hand out 20 million books (instead of toys) in Happy Meals that will be especially written for them. The books will emphasize positive messages about food and eating well. The goal is to encourage quality family time. (Could it possibly increase sales?) Another project, the release of interactive digital books, places a stress on technology. I’ll be curious to see the public’s reaction to this marketing effort and also the quality of the books distributed.
