Meet our Volunteers

Susan G.

As a teacher and a poet, I have seen over and over the value of reading, writing, and discussing poetry, so I feel especially fortunate to connect with our library for the Box of Poems project.

Melissa V.

Her lifelong love of reading combined with a desire to be more involved in the community led her to volunteer at the library as a greeter.

Nancy C.

I started working in and loving libraries when I was in elementary school. I’m retired now from work as a radio announcer for over 50 years and I’m enjoying my time being in a place that is like home to me, the library.

Kim B.

I am a former employee, it is wonderful to be back at EPL, a full circle for me! I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as a volunteer at this wonderful library.

Joan D.

I grew up loving the library in our community.  I have two generations of readers at EPL and when I retired, I knew I wanted to volunteer at this great institution.

Ainsley L.

I volunteer in the children's department at the library, which I enjoy because of the amazing community— and the opportunity to do crafts instead of schoolwork. I’m excited to keep volunteering for the rest of my time at Northwestern!

Jenny Z.

I really wanted to give back to the Evanston community by volunteering at the library. In the past, I have volunteered at Chicago Public Libraries, which was a wonderful experience. More specifically, I think it brings me happiness seeing how the library is a diverse place where anyone is welcomed.

Betsy T.

Betsy is volunteering in the Evanstonian Room at EPL. She believes libraries play a huge role in the future of literacy. They play an equally large role in the preservation of history.

Cydney B.

The Evanston Public Library provides a space for everyone to learn and find joy in life. And I’m happy to serve my community by helping out in the Children’s Library and The Language Cafe and sitting at the Greeter’s Desk.

Anne O.

I got involved in the Repair Café movement while living in New York and volunteered there regularly. I was excited to find an opportunity to get involved here to help keep the great momentum going for Repair Cafes in Evanston.
