Welcome to the Blueberry Awards, a national children’s eco-literature award for the best nature and climate books for kids 3 - 10+. We announce approximately 40 winners a year around the Vernal Equinox (March 20/1), just in time to buy, share, and display for Earth Month! Our mission is to change children’s publishing to support kids to become nature enthusiasts and climate activists while carefully avoiding and mitigating kids’ climate anxiety. We want to celebrate and support all the illustrators, writers and photographers that feel called to the work of preparing our young people both for a life of joy and connection with nature and a life of calm pursuit of effective group action to support our planet. The Blueberry Committee has presented at the American Library Association and also published in Horn Book Magazine, American Libraries Magazine and many other publications.

This fall, we’re hoping YOU will want to help us share some of the books we are considering with the young people in your life and report back on their favorites. If you work with kids ages 3 - 5 or Kindergarten through 2nd grade, we have a children’s choice award for your kids to select!
