Even though National Water Safety Month has ended, Evanston Public Library can connect you and your family with important information about water safety all year long. Spread the word to neighbors and community members to ensure a safe water season at Evanston’s lakefronts and beaches this summer.

All City of Evanston beaches offer:
- Free life jackets at all swimming beaches when lifeguards are on duty available first come, first served in sizes Infant, child, youth, and adult
- Life rings installed at entrances and break walls at each beach
- Color-coded swim flags informing residents of current lake conditions

- Join your friendly EPL children’s librarians at the beach! Attend our free drop-in Sand & Stories beach storytimes at Lee Street Beach on select Friday mornings June through August.
- Looking for a place to access free internet and use a computer to complete the American Red Cross online courses? Both the Main Library and Robert Crown Library locations offer internet computers during operating hours, as well as Wi-Fi Hotspots for checkout.
GET A FREE BEACH PASS
New to Evanston and want to visit the beach? Evanston residents can collect free beach passes with proof of residency for each person in a household for anyone older than 1 years old. Passes are now available at any of the following Evanston facilities:
- Levy Senior Center (300 Dodge Ave.) | M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Ecology Center (2024 McCormick Ave.) | M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center (1655 Foster St.) | M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. & Saturday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Chandler-Newberger Community Center (1028 Central St.) | M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
